This upcoming estate sale is more than treasures on display, it is a chapter of Portland history.
We are honored to host an estate sale for Jacob and Ivasue, the beloved owners of JaCiva's Bakery & Chocolatier, the shop on Hawthorne that brought joy, love, and unforgettable celebrations to Portland for decades.
For generations of Portlanders, JaCiva's wasn't just a bakery, it was where life's milestones were made sweeter, where families gathered, and where joy was shared in every bite. For neighbors in Mt Tabor, it was even more personal. Every Halloween, the couple opened their doors and gave each child not only a piece of chocolate, but a note saying their smiling faces made a permanent imprint on their hearts. It was a kindness that lingered long after the night was over, and a memory neighbors still cherish today.
For us at Emerald Valley Estate Sales, this one is profoundly personal. Graeme and I loved JaCiva's so much that we had our wedding cake made there. To help care for Jacob and Ivasue's treasures feels like a full-circle moment - a sacred chance to honor a legacy that gave me, Graeme, and this city so much joy, love, and sweetness. Though JaCiva's doors have closed, the love Jacob and Ivasue poured into Portland, and this neighborhood, lives on.
Their Mt Tabor home is filled to the brim with pieces that carry the same warmth, hospitality, and heart that Jacob and Ivasue gave to Portland.
